DOCman Security Announcement

Joomlatools would like to announce the immediate availability of DOCman v1.4.0RC2.

Recently, a CSRF vulnerability was discovered in DOCman. An attacker can have the same access permissions as the administrator. In the right circumstances, this can be exploited to change data or obtain shell access. All 1.3.x versions, as well as 1.4.0BETA2 and 1.4.0RC1 are vulnerable. Therefore it is recommended to all users to upgrade to the new v1.4.0RC2.

Please visit http://blog.joomlatools.org/2008/02/docman-security-announcement.html to read the full announcement, as well as upgrade instructions.

Migrating DOCman to Joomla! 1.5

Yes! You can now easily migrate your Joomla! 1.0.x site to Joomla! 1.5, along with the data from your DOCman installation. Read all about it on our new blog.

Apparently there's some confusion about DOCman not being compatible with Joomla! 1.5. So let me say it once more for the record :-)
DOCman 1.4 works with Joomla! 1.5
All you need to do is turn on Legacy mode in the J!1.5 plugin manager. The legacy mode is very stable and has almost no effect on the performance of your site.

Check the FAQ's if you need more information: http://www.joomlatools.org/products/docman/faq/

Joomla! 1.5 - Bugsquashing in Brussels

Join us for the first European Joomla! 1.5 bug squashing day on the 10th of December, in Brussels Belgium. On the menu are the finest Belgian beers, Joomla! 1.5 bugs and of course a lot of fun !

This event will take place right after the US bug squashing events in New York, San Francisco and Washington. We will carry the torch forward and pick up any bugs that are left on the trackers and forums.

The event is co-organised with the Local Belgium Police. They have kindly offered meeting space and will also be providing drinks and lunch. The Joomlatools crew is bringing along Joomla! 1.5 brainpower with Johan Janssens (Joomla! lead developer) and Laurens Vandeput (Joomla! developer). Both will be your trunk committers of service. Also joining us is Mathias Verraes, DOCman lead developer.

All the bugs fixed at the event will go straight into the trunk of 1.5 ready to be released with the upcoming RC4.

Who : Developers who want to help squash Joomla! 1.5 bugs
What : One day of Joomla! bug fixing
Where : Brussels, Belgium, IRC and anywhere you want to join in
When : December 10
Why : To help with Joomla! 1.5 and have fun !

Register at http://www.joomlatools.org

Please know that space is limited, so don't register if you are not certain you can come. We have room for about 30 people, so we would like to especially focus on having developers who are acquainted with Joomla! development. Of course people who are skilled testers are more then welcome.

NOTE : For security reasons people who have not registered will not be allowed in the building. Please make sure you have registered first.

If you can't join us in person, come join us on IRC. For more fun, you can even organize a local bug squashing by finding a space with room for you and some others to work, and getting some food. Just join in the IRC so you know what is happening elsewhere.

We will also try to setup a live webcam feed and welcome everyone to idle in #joomlapbf @ freenode to help out.

DOCman hits 200,000!

Last night DOCman reached 200,000 downloads on the joomlacode.org project site! DOCman forum moderator X-Ception managed to get a screenshot of this event. It's not a mockup: he was up until 4am to capture the moment. And yes, he's insane :-)

This is actually not even the full amount of downloads for DOCman. We moved to joomlacode.org in May 2007, so downloads before that date aren't counted. Also, many other Joomla! community sites host DOCman packages as well. All in all we can safely say DOCman is one of the most popular Joomla! extensions out there.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has made this possible: past and present developers, the many official DOCman translators, and everybody who has contributed to project in one way or another. With your help, we can make DOCman even better!
